Noisy World

Noisy World

I was met with an array of emotions this past week as I walked into what is usually my favorite event of the year.  An annual convention where Christian Music Broadcasters gather together.  The team does an incredible job of making this week rich and engaging.

I walked into the big meeting space with insecurities, anxieties, and feeling very judged…whether that was true or not.  It’s complicated.  But, this introvert and Enneagram 2 cried many tears on day one of the convention.  All of those things almost ruined what God had for me.

On day two, I started the day focusing on this verse.

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
2 Thessalonians 3:16

That mind shift was what I needed.  I asked God that no matter what was said or not said to me, that I would be able to experience His peace.  At all times, in every way! A peace that surpasses understanding.  A peace that is more reliable than my feelings.

The rest of the week, I got out of my own way.  I saw several friends from around the country that I loved catching up with.  I hugged some of our artists and was able to thank them for their ministry.  I met new friends that I know will be ones I can grow with.  I had tough conversations and learned from others.  More importantly, I was able to get to a place of worship and receiving all that God had for me so that I was able to be an encouragement to others.  I chose what to focus on.

When we focus on the noise of the world, we miss the beauty of what God is actually doing around us.

The more I opened up with others, the more apparent it was that I was not the only one who was struggling and in a place of waiting on the Lord.  We all have something we are working through.

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Psalm 27:14

Danny Gokey was a contestant on American Idol in 2008. He was the 3rd place finalist.  He is an amazing artist with an incredible talent to share with the world.  While I have met Danny a few times over the years, my girls just had a chance to meet him at the conference.  We are huge fans of his music, ministry, and his wife’s instagram page.  She makes us giggle so much.

Danny shared his struggles over the years.  Heartache and disappointment.  Yet, trusting in something he could not see. Having faith in a God that had a purpose for him.  He also shared his new song Stand in Faith. It has been the song in my heart for days now.

I will stand in Faith
Walk by Faith
Live by Faith
I believe, I believe, I believe
I will Stand in faith
See by faith
Receive by faith

Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrew 11:1

As I fumble forward in grace, I’ve been asking myself these questions lately. Maybe your heart could benefit from asking them too.

  • What do you need to be believing God for today?
  • Are your internal struggles and insecurities stopping you from seeing all that God He has for you?
  • Are you surrounding yourself more with the noise of the world or the peace of God?

As you wait for the Lord, trust He is at work.  Keep the Faith.  He’s not done yet.

I’m praying for you.

It’s nice to have friends to journey through life with together.  I’d love to connect with you.

  1. Dear Miss Tyler,
It is amazing to hear your candor and willingness to be transparent, prior to coming to Christ I was overly confident, arrogant, and feared nothing. Through Christ I was humbled and realized how broken I was, and the arrogance fell away as the Lord washed away the mask. The enemy of our soul used this to twist the humility and meekness into fear , anxiety and perceived weakness…..but God’s strength is shown through our weakness… I have listened to you and Ellis since you first came to the Z and you have been like old friends that inspire me and my family with your joy and laughter. Thank you for being such a great reflection of God’s light, myself and my family would love to stand in the gap for you and your beautiful family in prayer and supplication before the Lord!
