Moments that Matter

Moments that Matter

It’s tough to know what the perfect gift is for someone you care about.  My momma is the sweetest little china doll in the whole world.  It’s hard to find  something in the store for her that could adequately say thank you. Thank you for putting up with us. Thank you for always being there when we need you. Thank you for loving us so well.

Over the years, the kids have made gifts for my momma, better known as, Po-Po.  (Po-Po means grandmother in Chinese.) Pictures with their handprints.  Drawings of elephants (that she still has on her wall).

Po-Po loves those sweet gifts from their little hands and hearts.

This year I wanted to take her to a special place to have tea but because of the pandemic, I couldn’t find anything open. So, we decided to have the tea at my house. A grandmother tea!

I decorated the table as fancy as I could…complete with little sugar cubes like I imagine they have at the finest of places.

Po-Po sat at the table with her four grand daughters.  Everyone was in pretty dresses as my sister and I served them treats and tea.  There was also a bowl on the table with questions for them to ask each other.  What is your favorite memory with Po-Po?  What’s your favorite family tradition? They took turns answering questions. My sister and I even jumped in to play along. There were many giggles as we remembered times together.

You could feel my mom’s happiness in the air and see it by her sweet smile.   She was thankful to be honored and to have this special tea party with her girls. She took the time to speak life into each one of them by expressing what she loved most about each granddaughter.  It was a new memory we could each look back on and thank God for.

Time is one of the greatest gifts we can give one another.  It means pausing from the busy. Slowing down to invest in who matters the most around you.

So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:12

How are you spending your time? Who are you spending it with?  May God give us an awareness to slow down and see the gifts in front of us.

  1. this is absolutely beautiful and one of the most special events I have ever read about. I love love every little detail you created for your precious Mother.
And it is hard for me to imagine all the joy, the laughter, and the incredible memories Emma, Ella, Macy, and Morgan will have forever! Thank you so much for sharing and bringing such love into this day.
