Breakthrough is Coming
For Mother’s Day this year, my husband built me a super cute garden box. In this time of staying home more, I decided I want to grow my own food! How hard can it be? (I’m cringing with you!)
I found great joy in painting my new garden box and finding the perfect place on the patio to place it. Location matters. My new hobby is strategically set up so most of the day the beautiful sun can bring nourishment and fuel, while a portion of the day it will be in the shade. We planted several garden-ready vegetable plants. Our little garden started out looking legit, minus having actual vegetables.
My daughters are 10 and 13 and are just as invested. They started watering them daily. The girls were diligent in their care for them. These plants were well loved. We waited. And waited. And nothing but weeds were growing. When I saw bugs had enjoyed some leaves, I knew it was over. How deflating! I stopped checking on them as much. I lost hope. We all did.
Many weeks after starting this process, it happened! A baby pepper has sprouted! I have never been so excited about a vegetable! How did this happen? I had no idea it was still growing!!!
Growth can’t always be seen!
What areas in your life are you trying to make positive change? What toxic habits or relationships are you trying to turn from? What past hurt are you still trying to learn and heal from? Or maybe for you, it’s desiring those things for someone you love.
Are you seeing little growth?
The wait can be exhausting.
Where we take those deep and private heart issues matters. Location matters. The heart of Jesus is where we find all we need. He says:
Set backs happen. It’s two steps forward and ten steps back for me on some days. There is hope. The weeds and bugs couldn’t stop my baby pepper from becoming all that it was suppose to be.
God is always at work. Even when we give up on ourselves, God doesn’t.
Be encouraged. Don’t give up. You may be growing more than you realize. Keep looking to Him. Breakthrough is coming.

It’s nice to have friends to journey through life with together. I’d love to connect with you.
