The Super Pink Full moon! Did you see it?

It was the first of only two super moons of 2021. Pictures can not do justice to how spectacular it was to see, especially over the ocean.  During a super moon, the full moon can appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than when it is at its farthest from Earth.

The different gravities of the Earth, sun, and planets all have an effect on the moon’s orbit. This allows us the opportunity to see something this cool.  I stood with strangers on the beach, all of us stopping to take pictures and admire the night sky together.  “Look how big the moon is!!!” “It’s so close!” The truth is, the moon only “appeared” closer and brighter.  It was in fact the same size moon from the night before.  I couldn’t help but think of how our view of God can sometimes be disproportionate.

There are times He appears brighter and certainly closer in my life.  Sadly, there have been times I don’t even acknowledge His existence.  Regardless of my awareness, He is there. Never changing. Constant.  

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

The different gravitational forces in our lives either pull us closer to our Creator or further away.  

Where are you? Does God seem close to you? Do you marvel at His beauty? Do you thank Him and go to Him for direction in your life?  Or is He just something that you know is there? 

Come near to God and he will come near to you.
James 4:8a

I know what it feels like to feel far away from God.  Maybe you do, too. I also know the completeness of when I have moved close to Him. God will amaze you with His love. His truths will bring you peace and give you hope in your circumstances.  And when you forget, He will remind you again.  

There will be times when He feels far away.  Trust that He is still there.  A marvelous light in the dark.  

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
