Have you ever felt different? Or been afraid of someone because of how different they are?
Sometimes it takes moving closer to understand the different. Thanks to Nathaniel’s Hope, an organizing that supports kids with special needs and their families, over the years I have been able to become close with those that the world sees as “different”. The special needs community has become dear to my heart.
I have learned life changing lessons from my friends.
Showing love doesn’t always look the same, but you can feel it.
No matter what challenges you face, you can always choose joy!
With it being Autism Awareness Month, the Autism for Angels Softball Tournament picked my buddy, Nicholas, to be a part of opening ceremonies. The theme was Dare to be Different. Nick is dual-diagnosed with Downs syndrome and autism. He happens to be one of my favorite people in the world. We love him and his family!
He had the opportunity to lead the parade of teams and be celebrated for being just the way he is…amazing!
He is pure joy! I loved hearing the crowd cheer for him! I pray he is always cheered for by those who get the chance to meet him! May he always know the truth of Psalm 139:14.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Psalm 139:14
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
May you know that truth for yourself today!
God has created us to be different. In our differences, let’s love well and keep learning from each other.

I LOVE this. Moving closer to understand the different. So powerful. Jesus touched the leper with his presence, willingness, and His hands last. We forget that it starts with our presence. Thank you for this.
